71% of Hip Pain Stems From Your Low Back

Not Sure What to Do About Your Hip Pain? Chiropractic Care Could Be the Answer to Your Problem

Gritting your teeth and ignoring the pain aren't the only options available when your hip aches. If hip pain has begun to affect your life, it's time to consider chiropractic care. Your chiropractor offers several treatments designed to improve hip function and reduce aches, pain, and muscle spasms.

What Causes Hip Pain?

Did you know that 71% of those suffering from hip pain actually have dysfunction in their low back?  That's right.  According to the EXPOSS study, they found that 71% of participants who were experiencing hip pain actually rooted it back to dysfunction in the spine.  Dysfunction would be further defined as Subluxations.  Subluxations occur when the joints in your spine lose proper positioning, impinging upon the nerves and causing interference in your nervous system.  Ultimately this leads to incoordination within your body (unconsciously) and also symptoms -- aches and pains.

In some cases, hip pain occurs due to an issue with the arches in your feet. Your arches support your weight and help keep your ankles, knees, hips, and back properly aligned. If your feet turn too far in or are flat, or you wear shoes that don't support your feet adequately, the alignment of your legs, hips, and back can be affected.

Other causes of hip pain include:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Sciatica
  • Tendinitis
  • Overuse Injuries
  • Stress Fractures
  • Weak Core Muscles
  • Inguinal Hernias
  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia

Chiropractic Adjustments for Hip Pain

Chiropractors treat the source of pain rather than focusing primarily on symptoms. After a thorough examination that may involve X-rays or other tests, your doctor prepares a treatment plan. The specifics of your plan will depend on the cause and severity of your pain but may include chiropractic adjustments.

If your hip pain is due to a subluxation in your spine, we will recommend a care plan consisting mainly of chiropractic adjustments. Adjustments help to rearticulate the joints in their proper positions to relieve pressure and pain on surrounding muscles and tissues while reducing inflammation and irritation, improving blood flow, and restoring normal range of motion.

Other Therapies

Your treatment plan may also include Softwave Therapy or Dry Needling.  Softwave Therapy will help to immediately decrease pain and inflammation while simultaneously increase stem cell recruitment, blood flow, and other growth factors to help repair damaged tissues.  Dry Needling can assist in relieving tension in muscles that have had to adapt to how you have probably modified how you walk, run, bend over, and put on your shoes due to your hip pain.
