Headaches and Migraines

Dr. Allison Has Been There...

We understand because Dr. Allison has been there.  She has dealt with the unbearable symptoms of true migraines where even trying to think hurt every last fiber in her body.  She missed a lot of school, time with friends and family, sports, extracurricular activities, vacations; she missed time just being a kid.

She tried the daily medications.  Her doctors increased her dosages to levels most wouldn’t even imagine giving a 9 year old girl.  It wasn’t until she started receiving Chiropractic Care that her migraines improved dramatically.  She was able to stop taking her medications and instead was routinely adjusted.  Everyone thought it was miraculous, but in reality it was simple: she had Subluxations in her spine, which caused erratic behavior in her nervous system and symptomatically, she had migraines.  When her chiropractor began adjusting her spine, her nervous system was able to function properly and she began to have less and less migraines.

Headaches and Migraines in Aurora

Headaches and migraines are a common, but not normal conditions characterized by pain or discomfort in the head and neck region.  They can be caused by Subluxations, tension, stress, dehydration, lack of sleep, or other health issues.  Most common types are tension headaches, cluster headaches, sinus headaches and true migraines.

Common Causes of Headaches and Migraines

Most of the time, headaches and migraines are caused by structural issues in your spine.  When the joints of your neck have restricted motion (subluxations), this can refer pain up to the head.  These referred pain patterns are often due to subluxations in the neck and most people who have headaches, may also experience neck pain or discomfort.  When we find the cause of your headaches, the symptoms will decrease and, more often than not, cease to exist.

Sinus Problems and Allergies

Yes, it's true.  When your sinuses and constantly backed up that increases the pressure in your head and can lead to headaches as well.  Targeting both the upper neck and the sinuses directly can help with sinus drainage and decreasing the pressure within your skull, alleviating recurrent sinus headaches.
